Being an Account Management position, it will be your overall understanding of the company, your influence at an internal level and your enthusiasm to provide quality service and gain intelligent sales, that will be the underlying factor of your success.

Relationships are what you enjoy nurturing and developing. You will have a proven ability to create strong working relationships that can endure brutal honesty, hard negotiations, and astute business acumen. You will also have that true sales streak in you that will identify real potential to further current relationships – and account size.

But, with all managing roles, it isn’t all about the sales or the relationships, its also about the numbers. Financially saavy, your competence with budgets, costings and tenders will be evident in prior accounts you have secured. A large portion of this role will involve developing reports, so an in depth understanding of pricing and costing is required.

With clients spanning across finance, retail, gaming and government, a good level of financial literacy will provide a firm foundation to understand the service your clients will require. Understanding of logistical processes will also assist with the level of service you can provide.

Navigating such a diverse and at times, challenging portfolio, it is essential that You appreciate the opportunity to interact and negotiate with varying levels of management and often find yourself approaching such testing situations with motivation and energy.

Understanding of business at an operational and functioning level, your education, training and prior professional history will offer you that invaluable experience to fall back on.

In a nutshell, if you have:

  • Relevant tertiary qualification or equivalent industry experience
  • Experience in strategic management, account management and negotiating
  • Financial skills and experience
  • Demonstrated success in achieving business plans/objectives
  • Understanding of logistical processes and demands
  • Compelling ability to build relationships
