When I decided to apply for work in NZ, it was all so confusing for me, as I wasn’t too sure of the work culture, processes etc, not having worked in NZ previously. I googled several positons, but having come from an extremely fast paced environment previously, in South Africa, I was looking for a stimulating role.
One role caught my eye, which was with E3 Recruit. Bearing in mind, I was used to Employment agencies dragging their feet and being rather lethargic in responding to applications, I was stunned when I received a call a short while later from Cassandra, to chat to me about my application and my interest in the position.
Cassandra asked me to pop into their offices for a chat and for an assessment, as well as the usual drug testing. I loved them instantly. They are warm, open people who honestly are in the business for the right reason. They are great people’s people and extremely astute.
Once Cassandra agreed that I was right for the advertised position, she forwarded my application to the client and said that she would advise me whether or not the client would like to meet with me.
Once again, I was expecting the loooong wait, but again I was pleasantly surprised when Cassandra called me the next day to set up an interview with the client and had a quick chat to me about what the company did, what the role entailed and what to expect. The interview was set for the next day. I was advised to just relax and be myself.
With my head still spinning from the speed that it was all happening, I attended the interview with Armourguard Security, and met up with Marilyn Place, Armourguard Wellington’s Regional Manager. It was an instant I WANT THIS JOB, from my side. I was totally enthralled with the role and the opportunities that it presented, and knew that I could make my own stamp on this position. I was just myself and was so chuffed with that great advise from my recruitment team. I truly felt that I had support and wasn’t going It alone. It made the world of difference to me.
Cassandra was amazing. She followed up with a call and to say that they were wishing me all the best and would keep me posted about whether or not I had made it through to the second round of interviews. They just showed such enthusiasm and support for me. I really wasn’t used to this from a recruitment company. Usually, it is all so clinical and cold and whatever enthusiasm shown, is generally leaning towards the clients and not the applicant. E3 are totally different. They are wise enough to realise that in order to recruit, they need to be impartial and supportive to both the client AND the applicant, and that they cannot fill roles, without good applicants. This makes good business sense.
I made it through to the second round of interviews, with the National Metropolitan Manager from Auckland. It was great. I loved it and truly thought that I wanted no other job but this one. This role was perfect for me. I could really own it. I couldn’t wait to start………….and I hadn’t even been chosen lol. In my mind, there wasn’t an option, I had to get it. Once again after the interview, Cassandra called me to see how it had gone and to tell me that they liked me and that she would call me as soon as she had an answer from Armourguard about who they had chosen for BDM/Account Manager.
The next morning Cassandra called me and was almost in tears, telling me that they had chosen me. I was over the moon and let out a huge whoooooooop!! I was so excited that I had gotten the job, but the funny thing is, I think that she was even more excited that I was!!
And so I started and have been in this position for 4 months now. Loving every moment of it. Loving the company, the clients, my colleagues. It’s really great and I often think, the only job for me. This role is exactly the role that I would have wanted for myself. It is suited 100% perfectly for my personality, experience and my attributes.
I am loving every single day working as BDM and Account Manager for Armourguard. It is a massive job, as I manage a couple of hundred clients and well as Manage the National account for the Department of Internal Affairs, and am also Business Development Manager for the greater Wellington Area. I wouldn’t have it any other way. This job is just perfect.
I am so blessed to have Cass and her team behind me and to have chosen E3 to represent me in looking for work. They truly made a world of a difference to my job search as well as this they are ace at placing the right person in the right role.
